MARINA SÁNCHEZ
Marina is a modern and baroque cellist based in Glasgow, currently studying a PhD at St Andrews University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She studied a Bachelor Degree Music (Hons) at the Victoria Eugenia Conservatoire in Granada and did her Masters in Cello Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
She was part of Live Music Now Scotland with the Dohnanyi string trio and was member of the Avanti piano trio with which she participated in residencies organised by Enterprise Music Scotland performing around Scotland. She has performed in several festivals including the New Lanark Heritage Centre, Knowle Green Village Hall, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Series of Aljibe Music, Chamber Music Series at the Academy of Orchestral Studies (Barenboim-Said Foundation), Ubeda International Music Festival, Granada Festival of Music and Dance, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Aldeburgh festival (Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme), PRISMA festival (Canada) and Dartington festival.
Marina is currently a member of the International Baroque Consort with whom she has toured in America. She works for Big Noise Govanhill (Sistema Scotland) teaching lower strings.
